The Eternal Idol reflects the same mix of worship and intimacy depicted in Shakuntala, a famous piece by Camille Claudel, Rodin’s long time lover.
Part of the project called the Gates of Hell, The Eternal Idol was also inspired by Dante’s Inferno.
