About the artist: 

He was one of the founders of the Vienna Secession school of painting, known for its flat perspective, references to nature, and curved lines. Being one of his very few works depicting a male (most of his paintings were about women), The Kiss is often considered autobiographical in nature, with Klimt identifying himself as the man.
